Bixby’s Riley Fisher – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Stewart Martin Kubota

By Hunter Ferguson
Bixby Junior Riley Fisher is a member of the school FFA program. According to Agricultural Education teacher Brandon Sellers “Riley has an incredible eye for detail that has helped our chapter events be even more amazing than they normally are. Riley has been a huge help with running our fundraisers as the chapter treasurer.”

Before joining, Fisher said what piqued her interest about the program was that “My uncles and cousins were all in FFA and it sounded pretty fun so I signed up for it in 8th grade to see what it’s all about and fell in love with the idea and the program.” Fisher has now been an FFA officer twice and has also been “the OC president 2 years in a row and competed on the horse judging team 3 years in a row.” She has learned a lot from these experiences and now uses her position as a leader to guide others within the program.

When discussing what her FFA leadership means to her Fisher expressed that “What it means is doing what’s right no matter what and helping better the community and the FFA chapter through service and how you treat others.” Fisher told VYPE that she has been impacted by “My community group leaders at church Alyx and Caris. They are just an inspiration in how they live their lives and treat others on a daily basis.”

Of course, she has made some memories along the way including things like “fun memories in FFA from class, meetings, events, banquet, state and national conventions and many more. But by far my absolute favorites are state and national conventions. They are just so much fun and you get to spend a lot of time with others and meet lots of new people.”
