GIRLS
Coach: Patrick Dinneen
22-23 Record: 8-18
Second-year head coach Patrick Dinneen is excited about the future of the Skiatook basketball program after his team won eight games in 2022-23. “We hope to improve on that [win] total this year,” Dinneen said. “I am excited about the future of Skiatook basketball and these young ladies.” Senior point guard Jayden Hilton is a VYPE Top 100 candidate who is a great scorer and passer. Adilyn Whinery is an incoming freshman who was expected to contribute before tearing her ACL over the summer. Senior LeAnna Dunagan will be counted on to contribute on the defensive end of the floor with her toughness. “She is our toughest player, runs our defense, does an incredible job and plays extremely hard,” Dinneen said. Bulldog assistant coaches are Megan Crase and Bonnie Vaughn.
BOYS
Coach: Scott Bowman
22-23 Record: 3-22
Skiatook returns all but one player from last year’s team under head coach Scott Bowman.
“We will have a lot of experience and will still be young,” said Bowman, who will be in his second year as head coach. The Bulldogs will be led by VYPE Top 100 nominee Hunter Howell, a 5-foot-7 junior guard who was a Metro Lakes All-Conference selection as a sophomore. “Great little guard and one of the hardest workers I have coached,” Bowman said. “Has one gear, full go.” Sophomore Cody Dearing (5-9, G) will be counted on to provide scoring from the backcourt after gaining experience as a freshman. “Played a little as a freshman. He has a great IQ and should be a top scorer for us,” Bowman said. Julian Baldino (6-2, G, Jr.) will give the Bulldogs some versatility with his ability to play at any position.
“He is one of those that can play any position and play it well,” Bowman said. “He is the link that keeps the team strong.” Others expected to contribute include Cole Bray (6-0, G, Fr.), Cooper Wood (5-8, G, Jr.), Nate Hardie (5-9, G, Jr.), Trevor Mathews (5-7, G, Jr.), Hunter King (6-5, F, Jr.), Josh Rimpley (5-10, F, Jr.) and Garrett Johanson (6-2, F, So.).
