Coach: Evan Drake
2021-22: 17-9
Evan Drake takes over as head coach of the Catoosa Indians after previously serving as an assistant with Catoosa and prior stints at Metro Christian Academy and Broken Arrow. Now leading the Indians, Drake believes that he has a top 15 Class 4A team on his hands with a chance to fight for a birth in the playoffs. Last year the Indians won 17 games and have their sights set on at least 20 victories this season. “This team is skilled with shooting all over the court,” Drake said. “We bring back a ton of experience and two All Conference players in Greyson Lewallen (Sr.) and Titus Miller (Jr.).”
Miller is a 6-6 wing who averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season and also plays AAU on the Tulsa Hawks Under Armour Team and is being looked at by multiple colleges and has been invited to several Division I elite camps. He currently has 573 career points and coach Drake believes he has the ability to surpass 1,000 total points scored by the end of this year. Lewallen is one of the team captains and averaged 14.0 points per game last year while making All Conference for his overall play.
Chris Brown (Sr.) averaged 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds last year and is a vocal leader for the Indians. Brown is a defensive anchor, floor general and dominates the glass and has been working on expanding his game and shooting range. Sutton Woods (So.) is a knockdown shooter with a high basketball IQ. Chance Handley (So.) is a floor commander with good handles, energy, and a soft touch. He can score the ball on his own or find open players in space for easy shots. Luke Beauchamp is heralded as the hardest working man in Catoosa. Coaches say he plays harder than everyone and is a machine on the offensive glass.
Other contributing players include: CJ Haydon (Jr.), Logan McCawley (Sr.), Sean Thompson (Sr.), Chance Handley (So.), Braxton Green (So.), and Kanen Bristol.
