Chelsea’s Dina Marchoud – player Profile – Presented By Rib Crib

By Derrick Smith

Everyone strives to be successful in whatever they do. Whether it is business, family, or something else, the goal is to be the best that you can be. The same is true for high school student athletes. Dina Marchoud says that it is not easy, but it can be worth it.

“Being successful in any sport is not easy,” she stated. “First, it takes a lot of practice. Practice makes perfect and It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication. You have to have a love for the game and be able to overcome the pain and criticism. Being successful is not easy by any means but it is so rewarding in the end.”

Dina is a senior at Chelsea High School, where she is a multisport athlete. On the softball field, you can find her at shortstop, second base, or pitching. She is a point guard for the basketball team and a track sprinter for the track team. Marchoud has played softball for thirteen years, basketball for seven years, and track for five years.

There have been people that have had an influence on Dina’s life, but she says that there are a few that have made a bigger impact.

“My mom and my grandparents are some of my biggest role models,” she stated. “They have always pushed me to be the best that I can be no matter what I am doing. They are not afraid to tell me when I am wrong but they always support me no matter what. Coach Bible is someone else that has impacted me. He taught me about science and how to run out of the blocks on the track. I enjoyed his class and really learned a lot.”

Playing three sports has given Dina the opportunity to experience some great moments with her teammates.

“My highlight moments are something that I will never forget,” she said. “In softball, it was making it to Regionals in Magnum during my freshman year. For basketball, it would have to be when we were up 20-0 on a team in the first quarter. And track would be being the 200 meter dash champion.”
