Throughout an athlete’s career, there are a number of moments that stand out and become a special memory for them. Madison Bailey is a softball player for Collinsville High School. She says that while she has made a lot of great memories playing the sport she loves, there is a recent one that stands out.
“This summer in the Tulsa Elite Invite, I made a diving double play during international tie breaker to help my team advance to the final four.”
Bailey is a sophomore at Collinsville, where she plays third base, pitcher, and also serves as a utility player for the Lady Cardinals. Outside of school, Madison is a member of the Vision Fastpitch Organization.
Wearing the Collinville name across her chest when she is out on the softball field is something that is important to Bailey.
“It means a lot to me because I want people to see how good of a player I am and a good person I am outside of softball.”
The path to becoming the person and athlete that she is today is lined with people that have helped Madison along that path. She says that she is thankful to each of them that were there for her along the way.
“My family and my friends have been the biggest motivators for me,” she said. “They are always there to support me and cheer me on. My dad is my biggest role model because he is always doing something to help me get better and improve. My teammates have also played an important role in my life. Kate Reid because she pushes me to be a better fielder, pitcher, and hitter when I am working against her. Jordin Crane is always hyping me up when I am down and she can always make me smile. Lastly, my kindergarten teacher because she made me want to come to school and learn.”
Getting to where she is has also taken a lot of personal investment from Madison.
“It has taken up a lot of free time, hard-work, and dedication,” she said. “But I know that all that work will pay off.”
