Jentry Griswold is a sophomore at Oologah High School and a member of the varsity volleyball team and tennis team. When not participating in athletics you can usually find Griswold doing something with her FFA chapter at school.
It was in the eighth grade when she first started FFA, and it was her family who encouraged her to join.
“My parents encouraged me. I was already in the 4H Club showing cattle and pigs,” said Griswold. “My activities include showing cattle and sheep, horticulture, and agriscience.”
Showing animals is something Griswold truly enjoys about FFA. She currently shows a wether lamb named Bubbles and a Angus heifer named Girly. But for Griswold, FFA is more than just a place to show off prized livestock.
“I enjoy making new friends and attending competitions. Making the stage at the National Convention my freshman year for my agriscience project was definitely one of the best memories I have,” said Griswold. “I would encourage anyone to join because I have a lot of fun. It’s a great way to meet new people. It gives you chance to explore different agricultural opportunities and you learn through trying.”
Griswold said her influences in life have come from her parents, coaches, and ag teachers. The sophomore stated they have taught her to compete and be a good team player no matter what team you’re on.
With two years of high school ahead, Griswold is putting plans in place now for her future. “My plans after graduation are constantly changing. I know whatever I end up choosing, agriculture will be a part of my life,” said Griswold.
