Head coach – Bill Blankenship
2021: 8-3
The Owasso Rams enter the 2022 football season ready to make a deep playoff run. They lost in the Class 6A-I quarterfinals in a heartbreaking fashion last season, a 41-40 loss to the Broken Arrow Tigers. Head coach Bill Blankenship is in his sixth season at the helm of the Rams football program, and he says that this season’s squad will have to rise to the challenge. “This team is very hungry,” he said. “We are replacing a lot of experience but have some key pieces returning. We have a tough schedule so we will have to grow up fast.” Mason Willingham (6-2, 190, Sr.) returns to lead the Rams’ offense at quarterback. Last season, he threw for 1,148 yards with twelve touchdowns and only two interceptions. He also rushed for 329 yards and seven scores. The offensive line will be anchored by Gavin Bohanon (6-3, 275, Sr.), Koen Ponder (6-1, 285, Sr.), and Ryan Case (6-3, 280, Jr.) and they will work to protect Willingham. After losing three receivers to graduation, Owasso will look for Cole Adams (5-10, 175, Sr.) to step up and make big plays for his team. He has rushed and received 1,763 yards and 28 touchdowns throughout his varsity career. Along with offense, he is also a threat on special teams threat with three kickoff returns for touchdowns and two punt returns for scores.
