OWASSO RAMS
Coach: SHANE EICHER
OUTLOOK
Owasso is primed for another big season in 2023. Rams’ head coach Shane Eicher returns a number of key parts from last year’s 31-9 team that appeared in the Class 6A State Tournament semifinals. “We will have a good nucleus of our team returning from last year’s state semi finalist team. We will also have one of our main pitchers returning from injury this season,” Eicher said. Owasso will be led by VYPE Top 100 nominee Jayelle Austin and University of Tulsa commit Brookley Foster. “[Jayelle] is a two-time district player of the year. She will be our leadoff hitter and centerfielder who is one of the best players in the area,” Eicher said. “Brookley will be our leader in the infield at shortstop. She hit over .500 last year and does a great job on the field as well.”
KK Knight returns as one of the top underclassmen in the entire country. Knight will see most of her time at third base, but can also fill a role as a catcher when needed. “[KK] was just rated as one of the top sophomores in the country,” Eicher said. “She hits for power and did a great job for us last season in the three or four hole.” Others who will fill big roles in 2023 are Addi Drummond, Karson Holson and Addy Ewing. “[Addy] came in and did a great job in the circle after one of our pitchers went down and really led the team to the season we had,” Eicher said. “You can always count on Addy to do the right thing and she will work harder than anyone.”
