A junior at Owasso High School, Macey Harter started playing soccer before she even started school.
“I started playing soccer when I was 4,” Macey said. “I played for my dad for a couple years and started to love it so I started playing club.”
Being a team player is important in a sport like soccer. Being a selfless player can be hard for some athletes, but Macey takes what her coaches tell her and runs with it.
“Macey is our universal player and plays the game harder than any kid that I have had in awhile,” said her Coach. “She is a starter for 3 years at center back for us. I told her my plans for the year and she has been going to private training to help reinforce the skills she will need. Macey is our jokester and keeps the kids loose most of the time. She will definitely be a D1 kid to play soccer. Macey leaves every ounce of herself on the field and never quits.”
Loving her team is something that helps motivate Macey to do her best as well.
“I love my team,” Macey said. “My team means so much to me. They are so encouraging to one another and they make me laugh on and off the field.”
Looking back over her soccer career Macey has some great memories. “My favorite memory would be last year beating Bixby 4-1,” said Macey. “That was my favorite game to play in, the intensity of that game was so high and we had a great full game.”
Macey’s soccer career will not stop after high school though as she will continue to make more memories in her years to come.
“My biggest accomplishment as a soccer player would be committing to play Division I soccer at the University of Central Arkansas,” Macey said. “I am super excited to be a Bear!”
Playing soccer for so many years Macey has learned a lot from the sport.
“Soccer has taught me that even when you are down or you do not think you are doing the best to keep pushing through and something good will always come out of hard work, Macey said.”
Some upcoming goals that Macey has would be to win State and she would love to earn an All-District Award as well.
