VYPE: Where did you go to high school? When did you graduate? What sports did you play?
Shane: Graduated from Skiatook 1987. Played football and basketball.
VYPE: Where did you start your coaching career? Coaching what sports?
Shane: Started career at Prue High School. Coached almost everything there. Head football coach at Caney Valley. Head basketball coach at Barnsdall, and head basketball coach at Skiatook.
VYPE: Do you have a coaching/teaching mentor? Someone you have looked up to for
advice. Why?
Shane: My dad – always told me what I needed to hear and not always what I wanted to hear.
VYPE: What is the message to athletes at Skiatook under your guidance and
leadership?
Shane: Always go hard, never quit and always do the right thing no matter what.
VYPE: Where is your favorite place to eat dinner (eating out)? What’s your choice
from the menu?
Shane: Favorite restaurant is Killkenny’s, and favorite item is Thomastown Tenders.
VYPE: What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing most during your free time?
Shane: Family and hunting. Free time – spending time with my wife, kids and 6 grandkids.
VYPE: What is your favorite sports team from the college or pro ranks?
Shane: Oklahoma Sooners.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite movie?
Shane: Rocky’s and Friday Night Lights.
VYPE: What was the first music concert? When, where and who was the artist?
Shane: Def Leppard.
VYPE: Tell me what you have come to love the most about Skiatook, your athletes
and where the athletic program is headed?
Shane: I love Skiatook because it’s where I grew up, met my wife and raised my kids. Our athletes at Skiatook work hard and are great kids! I believe our programs are coached really well and headed in a very good direction. Very proud of our athletics.
