Rejoice Christian Athlete Spotlight – Jaron Foote – Presented by Owasso Drug

Jaron Foote is a multisport athlete at Rejoice Christian School. He has put in a lot of time and effort to become who he is. He says that he has also had really solid role models that have helped shape him into the man he is.

“My dad is for sure the man I look up to the most,” Jaron said. “He is hard- working, kind, supportive, and a man of faith and integrity. My uncle Andrew and coach Billingsley have been big influences on both basketball and life. They have helped develop my skills and take my basketball IQ to the next level.”

As a senior, Foote currently plays basketball for the Eagles. In the past, he has played soccer, baseball, football, and track. He did play one season of tennis just because and he ended up doing really well.

“When I was a sophomore, one of my buddies and I decided to play tennis for fun,” he recalled. “We ended up making it to State where we finished the top 12.”

Over his time playing sports, Jaron has invested a lot of time to continue to get better. He has also seen his hard work pay off.

“It takes a lot of practice, watching film, studying the game, and learning from my mistakes and successes,” he said. “I’ve spent every summer since the fifth-grade playing competitive basketball and training year round. Last year, I was selected All- Conference first team.. We play in the Pinnacle Conference, which is a tough conference, so being selected in the company of those guys was pretty exciting.”

When game time comes, there is a name on the front of Jaron’s uniform. He says that being a positive representation of that name is very important to him.

“I’m proud to wear the Rejoice jersey and represent my school,” he said. “I’ve been here my whole life so that’s pretty cool. I grew up watching the varsity guys play and remember being excited about the day I could represent my school on the court. Now there are young guys watching us play so it’s fun to see their excitement too. Rejoice is a special place with strong community support for their students so the game time atmosphere is fun.”
