A new baseball season brings some changes to the Rejoice Christian team. They have a new leader at the helm, head coach Tim Ebarb. While being their best during game time is important, coach Ebarb says that he is looking at the bigger picture.
“My expectations would be continual growth as a team,” he said. “We are laying a solid foundation at Rejoice for others to build upon. We expect players to live up to our high standards not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. We are trying to lay a foundation that we can build something special at Rejoice. We have an immediate goal to be the first baseball team at Rejoice to make the state tournament. But more importantly, we want our players to leave our program better equipped to serve others & become productive leaders in society.”
The team brings back two guys that will be playing their last baseball season for the Eagles. They also have a few other players that could play big roles.
“Our two seniors, Marshall Hefner and Kenton Hudson, have provided much-needed leadership to our very young team both on and off the field. Camden Ryan has been our most consistent player and provides leadership as well. Micah Walker, a freshman, has been a pleasant surprise on the mound. TJ Wilson has been called our heart and soul by one of our assistants, and I could not agree more.”
While it is early in the season, Ebarb is already dealing with a challenge. But it is one that all spring sports coaches deal with in the state of Oklahoma.
“One of the challenges we have faced has been the weather,” he said. “We have had multiple rainouts. Another challenge is we are very young. We only have two seniors and four juniors. Lastly, three of our starters, first baseman Ayden Wadley, catcher Jaxon Wadley and centerfielder Isaac Barnett, are all coming off of injuries they suffered last year, but each has contributed to our early success.”
