Jaydn Whinery has had a big impact on the Skiatook softball program.
Whinery, now a junior, has started for the Bulldogs since her freshman year. She hits in the middle of the lineup and can either play in the outfield or help from the pitcher’s circle.
“Jadyn has been a starter for us since her freshman year. She can play in the outfield, but we primarily use her as a pitcher,” Skiatook head coach Jordan Jones said. “She is also a smart and strong hitter, typically batting in the 3 or 4 spot for us. Jadyn is a great player and a great leader on and off the field.”
Whinery came through in the clutch with a postseason home run against Cushing last year in a Class 4A regional. The Bulldogs finished with a 19-16 overall record under Jones.
“I’m looking forward to competing in our new district and making friendships that will last a lifetime,” Whinery said. “One of my personal goals is to keep growing in every aspect of the game and one of my team goals is to make it to state.
“I feel like I’ve improved most on my strength going into this year, which has helped me pitching wise and hitting wise.”
Whinery, who plans to attend college and wants to someday be a dentist or dermatologist, says her parents are her biggest influences.
“They’re always there for me no matter what, and they always push me to be the best
version of myself I can be on and off the field,” she said.
