9 Questions with Webster’s Andy Guglielmo – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Arnold’s Hamburgers of Tulsa

VYPE: What year are you?

Andy Guglielmo: I’m in 12 grade.

VYPE: How long have you been playing golf?

AG: I’ve been playing golf for 2 years.

VYPE: How did your golf career first start?

AG: It first started when my golf coach asked me if I would like to try and so I tried it and the first time I hit the ball, I just felt so good because of how easily I picked up everything.

VYPE: What is the greatest life lesson you’ve learned through golf?

AG: The greatest lesson I learned is that not everything is perfect but you can always make it better — 1 yard at a time.

VYPE: What advice would you give to a young person thinking about picking up golf?

AG: I would tell someone that is thinking about golf to give it a try and always work from the green to the tee.

VYPE: What’s the toughest aspect of the game?

AG: Staying out of your head is very difficult, but also staying calm on the course.

VYPE: Talk about a time you faced a challenge in golf.

AG: One of the toughest challenges I faced was chipping into the green. I would always chunk it and the ball would end up 2 feet in front of me, and I would always be in my head about it, but I just found out that if I focused on something other than the ball or the shot, it would go where I want it to.

VYPE: What’s your favorite color?

AG: My favorite color is blue.

VYPE: Do you play any other sports?

AG: I play men’s volleyball and soccer.

VYPE: Are you involved with other activities or hobbies?

AG: I am involved with the FFA chapter at my school. I also fish and love nature hikes.

VYPE: What’s your dream vacation?

AG: My dream vacation is to go to Bora Bora.

VYPE: What’s your favorite subject?

AG: My favorite subject is science or math. I love geometry.

VYPE: What’s a piece of advice a coach gave you that you’ll never forget?

AG: My golf coach told me once, “when it’s breezy, swing easy, but if it’s still, you better play well,” and I will never forget that.
