Errin Washington is a junior at Edison Preparatory High School where she is a member of the volleyball team. She loves to play the game of volleyball and she says that it takes a lot more than just the physical work to be at her best.
“I have to be mentally strong at all times,” Washington stated. “It is also important to take care of my body, keeping it healthy all the time.”
Throughout her career, Errin has had a lot of support from people around her. She knows that she would not be where she is today without them.
“My biggest motivators are my family,” Errin said. “They are always there for me and cheer me on. My parents are my role models because they always pushed me to be the way I am today. They helped me every step of the way in my life and never gave up on me. My third grade teacher, though I don’t remember her name, was always with me during elementary school and would guide me and she was my best friend.”
When she and her teammates step out on the court to compete, Washington says that they are ready to face whoever is on the other side of the net. But she says that there is one opponent that makes the victories a little sweeter.
“I enjoy beating Memorial volleyball,” she said. “Mainly because they are our rivals, so it’s fun every time.”
Washington has invested a lot of time and effort to be her best. She says that she has seen that work payoff in something that she considers an important time in her career.
“The highlight for me has been qualifying for nationals with my club volleyball team,” Washington said. “I never thought I could do it or even be a part of a team that could do it, but I was.”
Errin knows that whenever she puts on the Edison uniform, she is playing for more than just herself.
“It means a lot for me to be able to represent my school and community,” she said. “I want to spread the fact that anyone can do anything you put your heart to, and that when you do you can meet some pretty cool and different people.”
