Memorial High School senior Jaslyn Phifer is all-in on everything Chargers. Jaslyn has been on the sidelines for the Chargers football team for as long as she can remember. Being a member of the cheer squad is something special for this senior.
“I used to cheer quite a bit when I was a little younger, but I’ve been cheering at Memorial High School for about four years now,” Jaslyn said. “The cheerleaders at Memorial are hardworking individuals who love teamwork, which makes us pretty strong team.”
On any given Friday night, you can find Jaslyn on the sidelines with her teammates with friends and family in the stands.
“Considering its my senior year, I love being on the field, but I also cheer with my friends and it’s such a uplifting thing and it feels nice having friends and family come and watch,” said Jaslyn. “It’s exciting watching our team score touchdowns. The excitement runs through you, and I love it.”
For Jaslyn, her classmates and friends at Memorial High School are more like family and she loves how the teachers approach the students.
“The teachers are so appreciative and caring, there’s honestly never a dull moment, especially being in classes with friends,” said Jaslyn.
Jaslyn has decided to attend college after high school and eventually becoming a Peds nurse. But she admits, being on the sideline is something she will miss.
“I’ll miss the fun, the enjoyment with my friends, the excitement, and my team especially. I will also miss all the fans,” said Jaslyn.
