Deciding on a school to attend can be one of the toughest decisions students can make coming out of high school. For Koby Bowie, who attended Midwest City and Bishop McGuinness, Southern Nazarene University was the best place for him to pursue his master’s in Sports Management while playing baseball.

“I chose SNU for an opportunity to complete my collegiate baseball career and attain a master’s in Sports Management. Also, proximity was a factor and I currently live in Spencer, Oklahoma,” said Bowie.

SNU quickly became home for Bowie and as a student working toward a master’s degree there were several things about the program that he enjoyed.

“I think I’ve enjoyed the people in my cohort the most. Everyone was reserved in the beginning, but now we all know each other well. Each week of class is different, but the people involved make the experience one to cherish,” said Bowie. “I was surprised by the amount of people who love sports, specifically baseball, just as much as I do. Even our professors are avid sport fans, so it adds energy and passion to productivity. I didn’t expect to be part of such a special group.”

Having a master’s degree in Sports Management will open many doors for Bowie as he looks toward his future.

“Attaining a sport management degree will prepare me for positions revolving around sport. We cover a great range of aspects, including sport marketing and finance, ethics, communication, media production, and several others. I already feel primed to take on my next position,” said Bowie.

The future sports executive offers this advice to anyone looking to further their education and careers by pursuing a master’s degree at SNU.

“I am a firm believer of going after your dreams and leaving no regrets. It’s never too late. SNU provides good quality professors who are willing to pour into you in ways that many professors are reluctant to at other schools. They’re flexible, consistent, and assertive. Most of all, they want to see you prosper in your future.”
