Webster’s Amondre Davis – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Arnold’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers

By: Hunter Ferguson

Webster basketball player Amondre Davis told VYPE in a recent interview that the time he has put into this sport has taught him that “You can’t do everything yourself, you will need others around you, so value your relationships.” Among the relationships he values is “My older brother Tray he really pushed me and instilled in me what it takes to be great.” said Davis. He also mentioned someone who inspires him “My friend Quavy, he has dwarfism and people always tell him he can’t do certain things and he always proves everyone wrong and excels at whatever it may be every time.”

Davis, who is also involved in the Webster High Student Council, is hoping to “make it to an all tournament team and the all conference.” this season. It would be a true honor to be recognized for all of his hard work and dedication and he intends on proving that he is a deserving athlete.

On the journey, Davis will be enjoying his favorite part about being on the team which he says is

“Being in the locker room with my teammates and watching them grow.” We all know that even though we see the team working together on the court, the real bonding moments typically happen behind the scenes. So it comes as no surprise that those moments are what stick out to Davis.

And although a career highlight of Davis’ has been “Playing against my brother during my junior year” he continues to put everything he has into the game, thereby showing his commitment.

Something that helps him is a piece of advice that has always stuck with him which is “To face adversity head on and never run from it.”

Upon the conclusion of the interview Davis took a moment to say “Thank you to my mom for always being my biggest supporter.”
