OFFENSE
The 2021 season begins a new era for the Broken Arrow Tiger football program as Josh Blankenship takes over as head coach. He is excited with what he has seen and ready to get the new season underway. “We have 120 guys that want to give us everything they’ve got,” Blankenship said. “The really neat thing is that all these kids are showing us the work ethic and the attitude that they are going to do what we ask them to do, and they are going to give it all they got. If you can get that then you can coach and teach and make corrections. I am pleased with how the guys have taken to what we are trying to get done and implementing it.” Returning to play running back will be Maurion Horn (6-0, 165, Jr), who is expected to have another big impact on the Tigers this season. Horn had 1,101 rushing yards and nine touchdowns a year ago. He also added 235 receiving yards and three scores. Wide receiver Robert Spears-Jennings (6-1, 173, Jr.) registered 800 receiving yards and four touchdowns last season and has worked hard in the offseason to improve his game. Evan Robinson (5-10, 294, Jr.), Nick Fuller (5-10, 260, Jr.), and Chance Marick (6-0, 263, So.) will anchor the offensive line and work hard to keep the defense at bay. Playing tight end a year ago, Griffin Stieber (6-3, 182, Jr.) pulled in ninety-eight receiving yards and a touchdown. He enters this season ready to make a bigger impact and make the Tigers successful.
DEFENSE
The Tiger’s defense gave up an average of 19.8 points per game last season. They have worked hard in the offseason and are looking to lower that number in 2021. Jadahian Floyd-Wright (5-11, 175, Jr.) accounted for seventy-seven tackles last year at the linebacker position and he is looking for another strong season this year. Playing at the other linebacker position will be Dietrich Moore (6-0, 195, So.), who had 58 tackles and three sacks last season. The duo will need to play big for the Tiger defense and set the tone for how this unit will play every Friday night. Patrolling the secondary this year will be Horn at cornerback and Javion Franklin (5-9, 141, Jr.) at free safety. The duo combined for 54 tackles and an interception last year. Horn, a VYPE Top 100 selectee is one of the top defensive backs in the class. On the front lines will be Mitchell Banning (5-9, 218, Jr.) and Julius McVay (6-2, 236, Jr.). They are ready to be disruptive and wreak havoc on the opposing offense. Overall the defense has a few holes to fill, but the nucleus is solid and expected to perform at a high level.
