Participating in high school athletics allows young individuals to build relationships that can last a lifetime. For Collinsville sophomore Kate Reid, softball has provided an avenue for her to strengthen friendships, and experience unique opportunities with her teammates. This summer Reid and her team made a trip to Oklahoma City to watch OU compete and secure another victory at the Women’s College World Series. These are the bonding moments that can bring a team together and something that Reid cherishes.
“My favorite thing about being on a team is all the friendships that are formed and the fun you have with teammates,” Reid said. “There’s nothing like it!”
Reid –a standout at softball– was recently recognized as a 5A-3 all district Utility player. She also plays basketball and runs track at Collinsville and participates in her local youth group outside of school. Coaches have remarked on Reid’s maturity and ability to lead others in her freshman year. Reid possesses a positive attitude and is a good influence on others.
Whenever Reid needs motivation or someone to inspire her she thinks of her mother. Reid knows that her mom will support her every day no matter the circumstance and often looks to her for advice.
“My mom is the biggest influence in my life,” Reid said. “She is always there for me and she is my biggest cheerleader.”
