Coweta Boys Soccer Spotlight – Mason Kidd – Redbud Physical Therapy

Like most high school student-athletes, Mason Kidd competes in multiple sports. And while he has one that he likes a little more, he says the other has also been important, mainly because of the people it has allowed him to get to know and learn from.

“I am a two-sport athlete, competing in soccer and wrestling,” he said. “Soccer is my favorite sport but wrestling will always hold a special place in my heart. My wrestling coach and soccer coach, Gabe Ellis, has had the biggest impact on me on and off the field and mat, and so have my other coaches Sam Dawes, Brad Mills, and John Cockrell. I just want to thank them for everything they’ve done for me as a person and an athlete.”

Kidd is a senior at Coweta High School and when he and his teammates go up against another school, he says there is one that when they beat, is a little more enjoyable.

“Wagoner is the team that I enjoy beating the most,” he said. “They are our rivals so anytime we can get a win against them, it is great.”

Throughout his career, Mason has worked hard to be the best that he can be, no matter what sport he is competing in. While the physical work is important, he knows that there are a couple of things that are just as important.

“Having more heart than your opponent is one thing that has helped me get to where I am today,” he said. “Also, striving to just be a better person overall has shaped me into who I am.”

There have been some impactful people in Kidd’s life but he has a couple that have been the most influential.

“My poppy has had kind of a rough life,” Mason said. “He is always a positive and outgoing person. Also, Mrs. Carol is one of those teachers you’ll never forget.”
Whenever he steps out wearing the Coweta Tigers uniform, Mason knows that it is important to be a positive representation of his school for the younger athletes.

“Representing my school and community is important just knowing that I need to be a good leader and good role model for the younger athletes coming up.”
