Heading into the 2021 season, the Skiatook cheer squad is poised for a great season under the guidance and leadership of coach Karen Branscum. Karen is the varsity coach and is a counselor at Skiatook Middle School.
Karen first started out coaching Skiatook Middle School and is now the varsity coach. “I have a great team this year and enjoy coaching these girls! They have gotten so close this year and have fun when they are together.” She added “With Covid, like everyone else, we have missed out on so much the last year and a half. So we are trying to make up for lost time and make the most of every moment. We did get to go to cheer camp this summer, so we were grateful for that for sure!”
Coach Branscum likes the make-up of this years squad. “This is a great group of girls who are working hard every day and I am so proud to be their coach! We have a variety of ages and experience on our squad this year. We have 4 seniors that are great leaders that the girls look up to. All the girls work great together and are forming great relationships that they will remember forever. More than making them the best cheerleaders they can be, I want to make them the best young ladies they can be and I am so very proud of them!”
