SNU Leadership
Jarrett Cannon
Assistant football and baseball coach at Spiro Public Schools, Jarrett Cannon also teaches Economics at Spiro High School. Wearing many hats is common for most educators today. Cannon made the decision to continue his education through the MAEL (Master of Arts in Educational Leadership) at Southern Nazarene University.
“The convenience of the program really made it hard for me to not pursue my Masters,” said Cannon.
The course is designed by educators for educators and gives the student the tools to master the art and science of educational leadership from grades K-12. For Cannon, there were many things he enjoyed about the program.
“Getting to know my classmates and the instructors have been so good. I didn’t expect it to be as enjoyable. I was a little apprehensive about going back to school, but I have actually enjoyed it,” said Cannon.
Having a masters degree will help Cannon professionally as he prepares for a long career in the educational field.
“It will enable me to pursue an administrative position in the future,” said Cannon.
The flexibility of the program is a big plus for individuals like Cannon who have busy schedules and very little time for other activities. SNU has created a program specifically designed for those individuals. According to SNU.edu classes take place in locations across Oklahoma so you can attend in a location convenient to you. SNU also offers online courses as well.
Cannon said anyone looking to pursue a masters degree should consider SNU as their school of choice.
“I would tell them to go for it. The time goes by much faster than you think, and it is absolutely worth it to better yourself through more education,” said Cannon.
