Softball
Adyson Roberts – Lincoln Christian
Roberts does it all. She’s a natural 3rd baseman, but she also pitches. She’s excellent in the field and a tough out at the plate. She leads her squad in home runs and stolen bases.
Volleyball
Sydney Thompson – Booker T Washington
Sydney is the epitome of a team player. Not only is she a great athlete, she is a phenomenal leader, student, and member of the community.
Greer Boedeker – Cascia Hall
She is a three-year varsity starter at outside hitter. She is expected to be a team leader this season.
Amayah Lockheart – East Central
Amayah is a two and a half year starter and she led the team in blocks last year.
Beth Bayless – Regent Prep (Pictured Above)
Beth is an incredible talent who plays consistently at a high level. She had an amazing season last year with 632 kills, 76 aces, 398 digs and a .342 hitting percentage. She is expected to have another stellar season.
Caroline Watson – Summit Christian
Caroline is a senior captain who will lead the offense. She is an all around player who will help her team be consistent.
Bella Wakley – Victory Christian
Bella will be a four year starter at VCS. She has the opportunity this year to help win a fourth Volleyball State Championship. She led the team in kills, kill percentage, and digs last year.
UNSUNG HEROES
Football
Austin Hieger – Bishop Kelley
An offensive linemen that got quality reps as a Sophomore. He could have a huge impact on the offensive line this year.
Aiden Walker – Booker T Washington
Aiden is a really solid football player. He is a hard worker, skilled athlete, and great leader. Knows the defense inside and out. Big expectations for him this year.
Konner Dunn and Andrew Chavez – East Central
Both of these kids have the potential to be great players. Even though they are both just freshmen, the team is expecting both to have big seasons.
Ashton Pohl – Holland Hall
Ashton has been ready to step in on the offensive and defensive lines with a moment’s notice since he was a freshman. On paper, he may be a bit undersized but whatever he lacks in size he makes up with his effort.
Josh McDill – Memorial
Josh is not only a solid athlete, but he also excels in the classroom. He works very hard in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the football field. He has also become one of the most vocal leaders on both sides of the ball.
Dempsey Gillman – Metro Christian
Gillman is a force on the defensive line. Playing defensive end last season, he accumulated 73 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and ten sacks. This season should not be any less productive for Gillman.
Merle Lancaster – Nathan Hale
While Lancaster may not always show up on the stat sheet, he is a dependable athlete and always shows up for his team. He has been a two year starter for the Rangers.
Duvon Boshoff – Regent Prep
Duvon has played on the offensive and defensive lines for the Rams over the past 3 seasons. He has led the lines since he was a Freshman and they have made the State Championship game twice during his career.
Daniel Matzkvech – Victory Christian
He always gives one hundred percent in everything he does. He is always willing to help the team however he can and works to improve himself.
Alex Patrick- Will Rogers
Although he is small in stature, he is one of the team’s best tacklers. Alex has a great attitude and work ethic making him a leader on and off the field for his team. He is also a solid student in the classroom, maintaining a 3.75 grade point average.
Softball
KK Gilbert – Holland Hall
Gilbert will be a key player for her team this season. She will work to be a leader on the team.
Volleyball
Taryn McIntosh – Booker T Washington
Taryn is expected to have a solid season for the Lady Hornets. She has put in a lot of hard work during the off season and she should see that work pay off.
Trinity Lawlis – Cascia Hall
The Lady Commandos are looking to win their first volleyball championship since 2012, and Lawlis will be a key player in the team reaching their goal.
Xiamara Rosales – East Central
Rosales is a great team player and does whatever she needs to help her team win.
Gracie Talley – Lincoln Christian
Everything she does may not show up in the stats, but Talley is a solid competitor for her team.
Alyssa Durham – Regent Prep
A good teammate and player, Durham should see her role on the team increase.
Emma Shockley – Summit Christian
Throughout her career, Emma has gone above and beyond to help her team and her teammates.
Hannah Warlick – Victory Christian
Warlick is expected to have a big season.
UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH
Football
Gunnar Jackson – Bishop Kelley
Gunnar missed his freshman year with an injury, he has the potential to be a great player for the next 3 years.
Issac Covington – Booker T Washington
Very aggressive football player. Showed a lot of flash as a freshman. Expecting big things this year.
Cunu Fields – East Central
Made a lot of progress and showed a lot of potential as a sophomore playing quarterback last season.
Kaiden Jones – Edison Prep
Kaiden is a high energy kid who will run sideline to sideline. Kaiden has a great work ethic and plays extremely hard.
Parker Jenney – Holland Hall
Parker can play multiple positions; running back, tight end, wide receiver and he is an excellent linebacker.
Tyler Johnson – Lincoln Christian
Tyler was a huge factor for Lincoln’s defense last year at the outside linebacker position. He made some huge stops at the most critical times. He is expected to be a team leader this season.
Darius Woods – Memorial
Darius will be an important part of the offense and defense this season. He is very athletic and has the ability to play every skill position.
Jaxon Grimes – Metro Christian
This season, Grimes should make a big impact for the Patriots.
Kortland Lowe – Nathan Hale
Strong, fast athlete that has a lot of potential. Could have a big season upcoming.
Teyton “Tot” Chandler – Victory Christian
Started at middle linebacker all of 2020 as a freshman. Also, a great wrestler and track runner as well.
Brysen Sampson – Will Rogers
Brysen stepped into a starting guard position week 4 last year as a freshman. He has increased his strength and technique and will be instrumental in establishing the running game this season.
Softball

A great kid, Cooper has a lot of potential in front of her.
Volleyball
Brenna Weaver – Booker T Washington
This could be a big season for Brenna, who is a solid player for the Lady Hornets.
Ramsey Wagner – Cascia Hall
Ramsey is a great athlete and could be an impact player on her team this season.
Kendra Mcmillion – East Central
Expectations are high for Mcmillion on the court this year.
Mackenzie Kelley – Lincoln Christian
Kelley is a great teammate and has improved a lot in the offseason.
Meg Goodwin – Regent Prep
The Lady Rams will look to Goodwin to step up and make an impact when called on.
Emily Sloat – Summit Christian
Emily is a great kid and a solid volleyball player. She will be an asset for the Lady Eagles this season.
Taylor Motes – Victory Christian
This season, Motes will look to step up and be a big time player for her squad.
