Tulsa Area Players to Watch – Presented By Tulsa Bone and Joint

PLAYERS TO WATCH 

CHEER

Cassidy Blackshare – Jenks

Cassidy was a key member of the 2019 Competitive Cheer State Championship Team and the 2021 Competitive Cheer State Runner Up team. Her experience has been vital for the young Jenks Varsity Cheer team this year. 

Daisha Blation – Sapulpa

Daisha is a hard-working, kind, and always positive young lady. She is the varsity team’s senior captain and does everything she can to keep her team on the right track. 

Denajah Adams – Central

Denajah has been cheering for Central since her seventh-grade year. She is a true leader on and off the cheer scene.

Ella Felty – Edison Prep

Ella always has a smile on her face and gives 110 percent every time. She is the epitome of true sportsmanship. 

Emily Slingerland – Summit Christian

Slingerland has cheered for Summit Christian for twelve years. She has helped each new cheerleader that has joined the varsity squad, as well as coached the elementary squads on her own time.

Emma Riley – Broken Arrow

Emma is such a hardworking, kind, and extremely talented young lady. She is an incredible role model and has so much talent to go with it! 

Kyleigh Greene – Kiefer

Kyleigh is an excellent cheerleader and a great student in the classroom. 

Maddi LaPointe – Union

​​Maddi is a leader and motivator for the team. She is also a dual-sport athlete competing in volleyball as well as cheer. She is an outstanding student-athlete the excels in the classroom and with her sports. 

Misty Asher – Nathan Hale

Misty is a second year captain. She takes advanced classes and is also in the band. She is involved in student government and student council.

Sarah Selman – Liberty

Sarah is a senior cheer captain and also serves as Liberty Tiger, the school’s mascot. She has worked hard to be the captain and always gives it her all.

Zoe Barkett – Cascia Hall

Zoe is Cascia’s senior cheer captain, a fourth-year varsity cheerleader, an NCA high school national champion & a great example of a true leader.

CROSS COUNTRY

Alicia Loza – Glenpool

Alicia is the team leader and always works hard in practices and meets. She elevates the talent of those around her and is very helpful to her younger teammates. 

Andrew Smithwick – Lincoln Christian

Andrew finished third last year as a sophomore at cross country state and had a great track season – top 3 finishers in the 1600M and the 3200M. 

Austin Campbell – Central

Austin was a state qualifier as a junior He made an amazing improvement from his sophomore season. Looks to have a big season.

Cade McCall – Glenpool

Cade has made it to cross country state his freshman and sophomore years as an individual runner. He has put in a lot of hard work in the offseason and is ready to have another great year. 

Cayden Dawson – Bixby

Cayden is a leader on and off the course. She placed fourth at State as a sophomore and second as a junior. During track season, Cayden was the state champion in the Class 6A 3200.

Ella Eureste – Bishop Kelley

Ella has won Class 5A Individual State her freshman and sophomore years. This will be her second year to be captain. Eureste also serves as student body class president. 

Ike Walker – Holland Hall

Walker had an outstanding 2020 season and enters this season ready to make a bigger impact. He missed a couple of weeks last season with injury but is ready to put that behind him.

Jasmine Brown – Sapulpa

Jasmine is coming off a freshman track season where she placed or earned a medal in three events at the Class 5A state track meet. She works hard and will pull double duty with the volleyball team and the cross country team this fall. 

Mason Quinon – Sapulpa

Mason was named OCCTCA All-State in Cross Country last season, in addition to All-Conference in the Frontier Conference. He won two meets in the 2020 cross country season and is an all-around great athlete.

UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH 

CHEER

Addison Brooke – Kiefer

A smart kid, Brooke will be an important part of the cheer squad for the next few years. 

Camri Hawkins – Edison Prep

A solid cheerleader, Hawkins is always ready to help get the crowd into the game.

Gabbi Wilkinson – Broken Arrow

Wilkinson is a skilled athlete that has a lot of potential.

Ja’lynn Wald – Nathan Hale

Wald has a great personality, which makes her a great cheerleader.

Katie Stoneking – Sapulpa

Katie has solid abilities and will continue to refine them and become a key member of the squad. 

Kenyha Williams – Central

Williams is a great kid and is always ready to cheer on Central High.

Norah Wilson – Jenks

Norah is a younger member of the squad, but she will definitely be an important piece. 

Rozlynn Susman – Cascia Hall

Susman is a great athlete and a solid student in the classroom. She has a bright future ahead of her. 

Ryli Middaugh – Liberty

Middaugh should have a solid year this season for Liberty. 

Sumer Carroll – Summit Christian

Whether she is cheering on the team or just around campus, Carroll is a great kid and a great example. 

Sydney Grismore – Union

Sydney is an excellent cheerleader, student, and all-around great person. 

CROSS COUNTRY

Gwyn Meyers – Bishop Kelley

Meyers has worked hard to become the runner that she is today. She looks to have a solid season. 

Izsik Meza – Sapulpa

Meza has worked hard during the offseason and is ready to compete. 

Kade Shields – Glenpool

Shields is a great runner and looks to have a solid season.

Mason Cranford – Central

A hard worker, Mason always gives it everything during competitions. 

Taylor Bilby – Sapulpa

Bilby is a great kid that is becoming a great runner. 

UNSUNG HEROES

CHEER

Aureliyah Hopkins – Central

Hopkins is an awesome team member, both on and off the field. 

Emily Sheldon – Sapulpa

Emily has great school spirit and is always cheer on their teams.

Jillian Gillespie – Liberty

Gillespie always has a great attitude and a smile on her face. 

Kennedy Smith – Edison Prep

No matter what the situation, Smith is always there and ready to do whatever needs to be done.

Kylee Wilkerson – Nathan Hale

Kylee is a solid member of the team. She does a great job of cheering on her school.

Kylie Farquhar – Union

On the field or in the classroom, Kylie is always a great example to those around her. 

Lily Kunze – Broken Arrow

Kunze is a solid cheerleader and is an asset to her team.

Presley Cahalen – Jenks

In the classroom or on the cheer squad, Presley excels at whatever she puts her mind to.

Tatum McMasters – Kiefer

Tatum is a hard worker that always gives it her all, no matter what she is doing.

CROSS COUNTRY

Evan Quinton – Sapulpa

Evan looks to have a solid season for the Chieftains this year.

Katherine Bishop – Bishop Kelley

Bishop is a solid runner and has a chance to have a big season for the Comets. 

Parker Owens – Glenpool

Owens has worked hard in the offseason and is ready to take on this season.
