Coach: Ryan Wakley
20-21 Record: 19-5
After reaching the state tournament last year in Class 4A state a year ago, the Conquerors are ready to get back on the court and make another run at the gold ball. Head coach Ryan Wakley says this year’s team has worked hard in the off-season and has a good shot to return to the State Tournament. “We gained a lot of experience after going to state last season,” Wakley said. “The team had a great summer and offseason.
They have set some lofty goals for themselves.” Returning to play guard is Josh Udoumoh (6-3, Sr.) who was dominant in the playofs last year. He is an explosive athlete that can score at all three levels and has a strong presence on the court who has multiple offers to continue playing after high school. Luke Patton (6-6, Sr.) has worked hard in the weight room and can score inside and outside. He is a solid rebounder and defender. He is one of the better big men in Class 4A. Jude Malhi (6-0, Sr.) has been an under-the-radar type of player but he is due for a breakout season. He is a high-end shooter and a hard worker. Soloman Granderson (6-4, Sr.) has a great motor and has improved every aspect of his game. He has a soft touch around the rim and a smooth mid-range shot. He should have a break-out year offensively for the Conquerors. Switching between guard and forward will be Jaydon Banner (6-2, Sr.), who is a player with a strong motor that will not quit and natural basketball skills. An outstanding athlete, Michael Doctor (5-10, So.) is a great rebounder and nifty passer that has a huge desire to win. Evan Migliore (6-5, So.) is a player that always seems to be in the right spot on the floor. He shoots the ball really well and will help space the floor. Other players to keep an eye on this season are Jamieson White (5-10, Sr.), Dirk Johnson (6-7, Jr.), Toye Taiwo (5-10, Jr.) and Kyle Covington (5-10, Jr.).
