COWETA TIGERS
BOYS
Coach: Matt Watson
22-23 Record: 13-12
Coweta will be going in a different direction in 2023-24 with first-year head coach Matt Watson after the Tigers posted a 13-12 record last season. The Tigers will be led by senior guard duo Caden Garrett (6-4) and Cade Ellison (6-3), both VYPE Top 100 candidates.
“Caden is a great shooter and bruiser. He will be a great player this year,” Watson said. “Cade is a silky scorer, an underrated player who will be among the best players in 5A.”
Connor Jensen (6-1, G, So.) will run the show from the point guard spot and will be counted on heavily from the defensive end of the court. “Connor is a great athletic point guard who will start and often guard the other team’s best player,” Watson said. Coulton Pierce, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, is trying to recover from a fractured leg he suffered over the summer.
Other seniors on the roster expected to play contributions include Grant Henry (5-10, G), Gabe Pearson (6-1, G), Noah Cooper (6-3, G) and Owen McElroy (6-4, G). Juniors are Beau Thomas (6-4, F), Brier Woodward (5-10, G/F), Jackson Armstrong (5-10, G) and Caden Meadows (6-1, G). Kurt Thomas (6-3, G/F), Kooper McNac (5-11, G) and Talon Vaughan (6-3, G) are sophomores who will play roles.
