VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Ashley: That would be knowing I’m surrounded by a positive community that pulls me back up when I’m down.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Ashley: I’m passionate about soccer because I’ve grown up playing since I was a kid and it’s been an escape from daily hardships.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
Ashley: Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City. I’ve always admired his vision and technical skills and have tried to implement them into my own play style.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Ashley: My favorite teacher was Mrs. Myers from the sixth grade. She’s actually my mom, and she helped me to fall in love with math and I still do today.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Ashley: My dad inspires me the most. Seeing how he deals with situations in a patient and wise manner inspires me to become a better person that other people could look up to.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Ashley: My teammate Lilyan Winter has left the biggest impression on me. Seeing how she bounced back from her ACL injury and became one of the key players on the team has made me so proud and has also encouraged me to work harder so I don’t disappoint her or the hard work she put in to get where she is.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Ashley: I started playing little league at Coweta Soccer Club in kindergarten because my dad signed me up, but I quit after a season because I hated running. Thankfully, I rejoined after seeing my brother win trophies and it has only gone up from there.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Ashley: My favorite meal is the steak and cheese burrito from Casa Tequila with a side of queso and chips
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
Ashley: I’m also in the National Honor Society, the Kindness Drive Committee, and Sheffield Soccer Club.
