VYPE: Zane, what grade are you and how long have you been playing golf?
Downey: I am a senior and I have golfed for about 17 years.
VYPE: What part of your game have you worked on the most this season?
Downey: I’ve worked most on my chipping and putting.
VYPE: How is the team look at Charles Page High School?
Downey: The team is looking good, and we definitely have a chance to qualify for state.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at CPHS?
Downey: The flexibility of the schedule because I don’t have to go into school until 11, three times a week, so I have time to practice golf in the mornings.
VYPE: What about your teammates? What makes this group special?
Downey: I love the friendships I have made because I feel like I have made some lifelong friends that I would have not made without golf, and I also love the competition I have with them because although they’re my best friends they’re also my biggest competitors.
VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at school?
Downey: The bass fishing team and National Honor Society.
VYPE: What’s the lowest round you’ve shot and where was it?
Downey: I shot a 66(-4 under) at Tulsa Country Club.
VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?
Downey: I am going to attend Southern Nazarene University for golf and major in finance.
VYPE: What do you like doing in your free time and where is your favorite place to play?
Downey: Whenever I am not golfing, I like to either fish, hunt, or spend time with family and friends. My favorite course to play is Tulsa Country Club.
