Amaria Musick

Bixby High School

VYPE: Amaria, what grade are you in and how long have you played basketball?

Musick: I am a junior and basketball has been a part of my life since I could remember.

VYPE: What was this season like for the team as you head off to the state tournament?

Musick: It was a grind every day, not only having a whole new coaching staff and a completely different type of team, but also figuring out how to adjust to new roles. I couldn’t be more proud of us for making it as far as we did.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
Musick: I love being able to be friends and have a good time with my teammates but also knowing when it’s time to lock in and get things done on the court.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to make the state tournament this season?
Musick: Making it to the state tournament this season with a new team and coaches and defying the odds because no one expected us to make it.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent BHS, your fellow students, and the town?
Musick: Last year being me first year at Bixby I got to be a part of a great team that had been together since they were kids but walking into my second year feeling more apart it’s been an awesome experience and great being able to represent BHS with their rich winning tradition.

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life?
Musick: There are many people in my life that have helped me with my success and put me in the position I’m able to be in but I would have to say my dad has been my greatest influence and pushed me to become better every day in all aspects.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?

Musick: After I graduate, I plan on playing college basketball wherever God puts me.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite pregame or post game meal?
Musick: If I have the opportunity, I like to get a pregame açaí bowl and game-day ponytail.

VYPE: What is your message to your teammates that you would like them to know?

Musick: We all have our unique strengths and talents that contribute to the success of our team. Through those we continued to push each other, and never give up, no matter the challenges we faced. We stayed together and I’m so incredibly proud to be a part of this team.
