Head Coach – Loren Montgomery
2021: 13-0
Last season, the Spartan defense allowed their opponents to score an average of eleven points each game, which played a big role in the team’s success. This year’s edition of the Bixby defense will look to carry on the tradition of shutting down opponents and limiting their scoring, but they will have to replace some outstanding defensive players in the process. Linebacker Hank Puckett (Jr.) registered thirty-four tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble last season and will be called on to increase those numbers and make more big plays in order to help the Spartans be successful. Joining Puckett at linebacker will be Jersey Robb (5-10, 205, Sr.). Robb totaled twenty-two tackles, seven tackles for loss, and three sacks. The secondary will be maintained by four players that made an impact a year ago. Fugate tallied sixty-one tackles and an interception last season. Dylan Hasz (6-0, 175, Sr.) had twenty-eight tackles last year, while Tyson Williams (5-11, 180, Sr.), registered twenty-seven tackles and two interceptions. Josh Newkirk (6-3, 160, Sr.) contributed twenty-four tackles but these three defensive backs will be leaned on to shut down the opponent’s passing game.
