With a wrestler ranked in the top 10 in every weight class but one (175), the Bixby Spartans are poised for a great season.
Returning state champions Jersey Robb (195) and Jace Roller (138) are back. Robb comes into the season as the top ranked wrestler at 215-pounds, while Roller is No. 1 at 144-pounds. Robb is attempting to become the fourth three-time champion behind Josh Gruenwald (‘95, ’97, ‘98), Jeff McAllister (1983-1985), and Leo Bailey (’78, ’80, ‘81). Shane Roller (1995-1998) is the schools only four-time winner.
Clay Giddens-Buttrum (Jr.) was the runner-up last season at 126-pounds. CGB is the No. 2 ranked wrestler at 150-pounds coming into the season. Jakeb Snyder (Sr.) was a state qualifier as a junior and is looking to make the podium this season. He is ranked No. 2 at 165-pounds.
Caden Kelley (Sr.) will move down to 138-pounds after wrestling at 145 last year. Kelley is a state qualifier alongside Hank Puckett who wrestled at 182-pounds last year but is the No. 5 ranked wrestler in Class 6A at 190-pounds.
Other wrestlers to watch this season include Chase Dyer (106), Colden Dyer (113), Isaiah Jones (120), Gage Walker (126), Jayce Caviness (132), Ishmael Guerrero (157), and Garrett Ritter (HWT).
