Addie White

Bixby High School

Bixby High School junior Addie White is a member of the varsity golf team and someone who loves being a Bixby Spartan.

“Being a student-athlete at Bixby High School is such a special role. All of my teachers are so amazing with helping me when I have to miss a lot. Being on the golf team has been an amazing experience to say the least. I have met some of my best friends through Bixby golf. I also couldn’t have better coaches they are always positive and making sure we are getting better and having fun,” said White.

The junior has played golf for four years and has been part of the BHS golf program since the eighth grade. For White, this is a special time with her teammates as they attempt to conquer golf courses all over Oklahoma.

“I love all of my teammates they are nothing but enthusiastic and fun to be around. We have created such a special bond throughout the years which is so special and has made golf so much more fun! Not only have I made special bonds through my team but also the girls I have played with,” said White.

Golf is a game that requires consistent improvement and tweaking. White enjoys the process of improving her game and getting better for her team.

“I have worked on many parts of my game however my brother and I have been practicing a lot on our sand shots and short game. That is where I can drop the score the most. My best round is a 75 at Meadow Brook Country Club which is where I currently have a membership at. This is my family’s favorite course,” said White.

As a team, Bixby continues to improve as they eye the state tournament.

“The team is looking great this season. Our No.1 bag Taylor is killing it! Varsity girls have been beating their PRs all year. As well as JV, Kameron broke 100 and has kept killing it too. Emma, who is our No. 6 bag has broke 90’s. I couldn’t be more proud of our team. We stay positive and continue to get better, there is no other team I would be on,” said White.

As a student, White is involved in many activities and has a plan for life after high school.

“At Bixby there are so many great clubs to be a part of. I am in BPA, FCCLA, Student Council, NHS, FCA and Interact. Outside of school I am also a part Young Life and student leadership for Young Life which has helped me grow closer to God and make great friendships. After I graduate, I have been looking into the University of Arkansas. I would love to do something in the medical field,” said White.

Like most golfers, White has a favorite course. One she fell in love with while on a trip to Colorado.

“My favorite course was in Estes Park, Colorado it’s called Estes Valley. This was the most breath-taking course I have played. It was so green, and mountains were everywhere. There were moose on the course while we were playing which didn’t feel real. I will never forget that course and I hope to play there again soon,” said White.

This season, White said one tournament stands out for her.

“My favorite tournament this year was at Oak Tree. We left the Saturday before, after our home tournament at Page Belcher, and Saturday night we went to dinner and celebrated two girls on our team 18th birthdays. Then the next day we played a practice round and the weather was just so beautiful. Then of course we went to the PGA superstore and mall which was so much fun and a great bonding experience. That next day was tournament day which was sunny but windy. That was my favorite tournament because all of us girls had a blast and really got to know each other even more,” said White.

When she has some free time, White said she wants to spend it friends.

“In my free time I love hanging out with my friends we go and play pickle ball, golf, and shopping. On Wednesdays we have bible study which is through Young Life. I love being outside and enjoying every moment of life’s craziness.”
