Kindal Biggs

Bixby High School

Kindal Biggs of Bixby High School has called the softball diamond her home since the age of four. Biggs, a four-year starter, earned All-District honors all four of those years and was recently named to the All-State team. Her softball journey has included many teammates, coaches, and road trips.

“Throughout my high school career, my teammates have played a crucial role in shaping my experience and contributing to my growth both on and off the field. Among them, Brynn Daniel holds a special place in my heart as we have been playing together since our T-ball days. Our journey together has been filled with countless memories, challenges, and triumphs. Brynn has been my constant support system, pushing me to be the best version of myself and always having my back,” said Biggs. “We have shared the highs and lows, celebrated victories, and lifted each other up during defeats. Our bond goes beyond the game, as we have witnessed each other’s personal growth and supported one another through various life experiences. Brynn’s unwavering friendship and camaraderie have been invaluable to me, and I am grateful to have shared this incredible journey with her.”

Biggs said her time at BHS has been remarkable and a transformative experience.

“From the beginning, starting as Bixby’s varsity catcher as a freshman required immense dedication and hard work, a foundation that I maintained throughout my high school career. The coaching changes during my senior year added a unique dimension to my journey, challenging me to adapt and grow as a player and a leader,” said Biggs. “My commitment to excellence on the field was not just about personal success; it extended to fostering a culture of teamwork and leadership among my fellow players. Serving as a team leader both on and off the field, I embraced the responsibility of guiding and inspiring my teammates.”

As a student-athlete, Biggs said BHS has allowed her to thrive as both an athlete competing on the field and a student in the classroom.

“Being a student-athlete at Bixby High School has been a truly enriching experience, and what I’ve loved the most is the sense of community and camaraderie that permeates through every aspect of this journey. The support from both my teammates and coaches has created a nurturing environment where personal growth is as valued as athletic achievement,” said Biggs. “The opportunity to balance academics with sports has taught me invaluable life skills such as time management, resilience, and teamwork. Bixby High School’s emphasis on holistic development has allowed me to thrive not only as an athlete but also as a student and an individual. The pride in representing my school on the field, coupled with the lasting friendships forged through shared victories and challenges, has made my time as a student athlete at Bixby High School truly unforgettable.”

The numerous honors have dotted her career as a Spartan. The role they have played in her life cannot be understated.
“The achievements and recognition I have received as a catcher and player hold immense significance in my life. Each accolade represents the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice I have put into honing my skills and improving as an athlete. These achievements serve as a validation of my efforts and a testament to my abilities on the field. They have boosted my confidence, motivating me to push myself even further and strive for excellence. Moreover, the recognition I have received has not only brought me personal satisfaction but has also earned me respect from my teammates, coaches, and peers,” said Biggs. “It has solidified my role as a leader and a valuable asset to the team. These achievements have taught me the importance of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork, and have instilled in me a sense of pride and accomplishment. They serve as a constant reminder that hard work pays off and that I am capable of achieving great things through dedication and passion.”

With so many games to recall, it’s difficult to narrow it down to one favorite memory, but for Biggs the answer is her teammates.

“One of my fondest memories as a Bixby softball player is the camaraderie and bond forged during the late-night drives back from away games. These journeys were filled with laughter, shared stories, and the joy of belting out our favorite songs, creating lasting friendships that extended beyond the softball field. Another cherished tradition was the annual big and littles reveals, a heartwarming moment that brought teammates closer together and fostered a sense of family within the team,” said Biggs. “However, the pinnacle of my senior year was undoubtedly hosting a regional tournament for the first time since 2007. The pride and excitement that resonated throughout the team and the entire Bixby community were palpable. The opportunity to showcase our skills on our home turf, surrounded by the support of our fans, made this experience truly unforgettable. It not only marked a significant achievement for the team but also served as a testament to the hard work and dedication we had collectively invested in our softball program.”

Biggs said her sister has been a big influence in her life, on and off the field.

“Throughout my softball and personal life, my sister has been my biggest influence and source of inspiration. From the moment I picked up a softball, she was there by my side, guiding and encouraging me every step of the way. Her unwavering support and belief in my abilities have pushed me to strive for greatness both on and off the field. Whether it was late-night practices, tough games, or personal challenges, she was always there to lend a listening ear and offer valuable advice,” said Biggs. “Her dedication, determination, and passion for the sport have motivated me to work harder, never give up, and always believe in myself. Beyond softball, my sister has taught me the importance of resilience, perseverance, and the power of sisterhood. She has shown me that with determination and a strong support system, anything is possible. I am forever grateful for her influence in shaping me into the athlete and person I am today.”

As the Class of 2024 prepares for the next chapter in their young lives, Biggs wants her class to be remembered for being trailblazers.

“I want my softball senior class to be remembered as a group of trailblazers who left a lasting impact on our program. By hosting a regional for the first time since 2007, we showcased our team’s talent, determination, and hard work. We laid a strong foundation for future teams to build upon, setting a new standard of excellence,” said Biggs. “However, our impact goes beyond the field. As a senior class, we prioritized creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone on the team. We fostered a sense of inclusivity, support, and camaraderie, making sure that every player felt valued and included. We believe that a strong team is built not only on skill but also on the bonds of friendship and trust. We hope that our legacy will be remembered for both our on-field success and our commitment to creating a positive and supportive team culture.”

Her advice to the underclassmen?

“As a senior on the high school softball team, my advice to the younger classes would be to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. Softball is not just about physical skills, but also about mental toughness, teamwork, and perseverance. Take advantage of every practice, game, and team bonding activity to improve your skills and build strong relationships with your teammates,” said Biggs. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek guidance from your coaches and older teammates. Remember that mistakes are part of the learning process, so don’t get discouraged when things don’t go as planned. Stay focused, work hard, and always give your best effort. Most importantly, enjoy the journey and have fun playing the game you love.”

Biggs has committed to play softball for the University of Central Oklahoma. There were several factors that Biggs considered when deciding on her next school.

“The University of Central Oklahoma’s softball program has truly captured my admiration for several reasons. One aspect that I particularly love about it is their unwavering commitment to mental health and well-being. The program recognizes that a healthy mind is essential for athletic success, and they prioritize providing resources and support to ensure the mental well-being of their athletes. This emphasis on holistic development aligns perfectly with my personal values and growth aspirations,” said Biggs. “Additionally, UCO’s softball program has a history of remarkable success, which is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the coaching staff and the hard work of the players. This track record of achievement and the program’s strong reputation were major factors in my decision to choose UCO. As for my academic pursuits, I plan to study biology at UCO, laying the foundation for my future career in optometry. I am excited to immerse myself in the university’s biology program, taking advantage of research opportunities and internships to gain practical experience in the field. The combination of a supportive softball program, a focus on mental health, UCO’s previous success, and a strong academic foundation will undoubtedly provide me with the tools and opportunities to excel both athletically and academically, paving the way for a successful career in optometry.”

Away from the field, Biggs likes to spend her free time doing what most people her age enjoy doing. Friends, food, and spending time together.
“In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities that keep me engaged and fulfilled. One of my favorite pastimes is shopping, as it allows me to explore new trends and find unique items that reflect my personal style. I also cherish the time spent with my friends, whether it’s going out for dinner, catching a movie, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Another passion of mine is hunting, which allows me to connect with nature and challenge myself in the great outdoors,” said Biggs. “Additionally, I find joy in playing pickleball with the Bixby senior class a few nights during the week, as it combines friendly competition and social interaction. Lastly, I believe in the importance of giving back to the community, so I actively engage in community service activities to make a positive impact and help those in need. Overall, my free time is filled with a diverse range of activities that bring me happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose.”
