Mackenzie McGuire is a student athlete at Broken Arrow high school. While she enjoys her academic and athletic life, there is something she is involved with that she gets the most enjoyment out of.
“I love to help out with the special education classes,” McGuire said. “I am actually doing an internship class at school called ‘peer tutoring’. It is basically where I go in and help out with the special education kids. They are so fun to get to know and to hang out with.”
Mackenzie is a senior at Broken Arrow, where she is a member of the Lady Tigers volleyball team. She has played the sport for about nine years and currently is an outside six rotation player.
Throughout her life, McGuire has had different people that have been influences on her. But she says that there are two people that have made the biggest impact on her as a person and as an athlete.
“My dad and my aunt have been the biggest influences on my life,” she said. “They are both super supportive and push me to be the best I can be. I would not be the person I am today without them.”
Another person that has made a difference in Mackenzie’s life would be one of her favorite teachers.
“Ms. Wilson is an amazing teacher,” she said. “She does a great job at teaching and has really helped me to be prepared for AP Calculus this year.”
The success that McGuire has enjoyed over her career is something that she contributes to her work.
“Being successful requires going all out,” she said. “You have to give everything you got and have fun while you do it.”
McGuire is also a member of the National Honor Society and a leadership class. After she graduates, she will be continuing her education and volleyball career at Kent State University.
