COWETA TIGERS

Coach: TIM HARPER

11-1

OFFENSE

After making it to the quarterfinals of the Class 5A playoffs last season, the Coweta Tigers and head coach Tim Harper are eager to get back on the field. “We have had a tremendous three year run of going 32-5 and we lost quite a bit of production to graduation having nine student-athletes sign to continue their playing careers in college. We are very proud of their accomplishments, but I am extremely proud of the 2024 seniors to be that are leading in every way imaginable. We are having a great spring practice and hope to continue being one of the better teams in Class 5A,” said coach Harper. Some of the production returning to the field includes Lolo Bell (5-9, 190, Sr.) who rushed for 1,200-plus yards and 17 touchdowns in the run-first offense the Tigers will field. Dalton DeWeese (6-2, 250, Sr.) graded out as the best offensive lineman at Coweta last season and will start at center. Hunter DeHues (6-1, 235, Jr.) is a physical offensive lineman who started all 12 games last fall. The pair will open holes for Bell and protect the quarterback to guys like Kevon Robinson (6-2, 185, Sr.) and Andrew Chavez (6-2, 205, Sr.) can make plays at wide receiver. Robinson averaged 28-yards per catch while Chavez had 900-plus yards and eight TDs.

DEFENSE

Six starters are back on defense including Deacon Peterson (6-2, 260, Sr.) at end. Peterson had 60-plus tackles and 10 sacks as a junior. Coach Harper said Peterson was a state finalist in Class 5A wrestling at heavyweight and is a physical player who can play either side of the ball. Same goes for Eain Williams (5-7, 155, Sr.) at safety. A three-year starter, Williams made five interceptions last year and will likely handle the kick and punt return duties again this season. Justin Robinson (6-0, 300, Sr.) is another three-year starter at nose guard and is known for his ability to stop the run. Robinson was the third leading tackler on the team a year ago. Luke Maledon (5-11, 190, Sr.) led the Tigers with 97 tackles from his linebacker spot. Hayden Terry (6-0, 170, Sr.) starts at corner where he made four INTs with 30 tackles as a junior. Taylor Sowers (5-11, 185, Sr.) will play the Nickle spot giving the Tigers athleticism and speed in the 4-3 scheme the Tigers will base the defense in this season. Also look for Brendan Badie to make an impact this season, possibly on offense and special teams.
