COWETA TIGERS
Coach: BLAKE DUNN
OUTLOOK
Coweta has all the parts to make another deep run in Class 5A this season under head coach Blake Dunn. The Tigers, who advanced to the state tournament championship game in 2022, will be led by University of Oklahoma commit Chaney Helton, who will lead the outfield from center field and the lineup from the leadoff spot. “Chaney is our starting center fielder and our leadoff hitter. She has recently committed to play softball at OU after high school. She is a leader on and off of the field and is a vital part of our team,” Dunn said.
Dasia Mason, who will be in her fourth year as a starter, is another standout senior who will pitch and also play in the outfield. “Dasia is a left-handed pitcher/outfielder and has started for Coweta since she was a freshman,” Dunn said. “For the last three years she has been a staple in our lineup both offensively and defensively whether it’s in the circle or in the outfield.” University of Tulsa commit Whitney Holcomb returns as well, as does senior catcher Sierra Soto. “Sierra is going to be a senior this year and is our starting catcher. She is a rock behind the plate and brings power to our batting order. Sierra leads by example on and off of the field,” Dunn said.
