Sierra Soto has played a big role over her softball career at Coweta.
Soto, who will be a senior this year, is the starting catcher for a Coweta program that has established itself as one of the top in Class 5A in recent years. The Tigers played in last year’s state championship game and won a state title in 2020.
Soto wants to maintain the Tigers’ stronghold in her final season and become a stronger leader.
“I’m looking forward to working hard to help my team advance to the state championship for the fourth consecutive year,” Soto said. “I want to excel at my position and also to help my team have a successful season.
“If you know me then you know that I’m usually shy and quiet. But now since it’s my senior season I’ve learned to have a mindset of leadership.”
“She is a rock behind the plate and brings power to our batting order. Sierra leads by
example on and off of the field,” Coweta head coach Blake Dunn said.
Soto’s favorite high school moment is an obvious choice.
“My most memorable sports moment during my high school career was winning the state championship in 2020 with my team during my freshman year,” she said.
Soto, who wants to continue her softball career at the next level, says her mom has been her biggest influence.
“She gave me motivation and passion for the sport I love so dearly,” Soto said.
“Although she isn’t with us anymore I will always be thankful for her teaching and showing me the game I now play today.”
