Gracyn McGowen is off to a fast start for Glenpool in the 2023 season.
The junior and former all-district utility player and third baseman is hitting .500 with six doubles through the Warriors’ first seven games.
McGowen says she’s improved the most mentally since her first two seasons. She wants to help put Glenpool in position to host a regional tournament this year.
“I have improved most on my mental game because you’re going to make mistakes but it’s how you respond and get mentally tougher,” she said. “I am looking forward to hopefully hosting a regional for the first time and playing with my close friends. I want to make the most of the season by playing hard and having fun.”
McGowen, who is also involved in student council and National Honor Society and holds a 3.97 grade point average, wants to continue playing softball in college while getting a degree in sports psychology. She’s currently taking college courses.
Her biggest influence is her mom and her most memorable moments are the what she calls the fun bus rides with her teammates.
“My mom is always the one to tell me to just have fun and enjoy the game I love to play,” McGowen said.
