Glenpool’s Sophie Bullock – “Talk of the Tailgate” presented by Taco Bueno

Glenpool High School’s Sophie Bullock has called the sideline of football games home since she was in kindergarten. Now she is a member of the varsity cheer squad at Glenpool, and she loves her teammates.

“What I love most about my teammates is that we all get along really well, and have fun,” said Sophie.

Growing up in Glenpool, Sophie remembers watching the high school cheerleaders on Friday nights, now she is the one being watched by the youth cheerleaders in Glenpool.

“As a kid I just thought it was so cool to be cheering at night under lights and now that I’m older it just holds a special place in my heart,” said Sophie. “My favorite moment of the game is in the third quarter when the band comes down and we all just go crazy and have so much fun.”

Glenpool is a special place for Sophie. The junior said it’s the only school she has attended.

“It’s the only school I have ever gone to, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I love the camaraderie from not just the students but staff too,” said Sophie.

Sophie said once she has graduated from Glenpool, she hopes to continue cheering in college while pursuing a degree in physical therapy. But she will miss being on the sideline. “What I will miss is cheering under the lights. There is just something different about cheering for your team under the lights than there is in the daylight,” Sophie said. “Right after the game in the center of the field all the football players, cheerleaders, trainers, and coaches make a circle in the field. We call it the Circle of Blue.”
