Jenks Trojans’ Seth Wilkins – Player Spotlight – Presented By BancFirst Jenks

By Derrick Smith

There are people in each of the lives that serve as role models and help shape us into the people that we become. Athletes are no different, as they have people that have a big influence on their lives as well. Seth Wilkins says that there are two people throughout his athletic career that have shaped him into the athlete that he is.

“Two of my biggest influences and role models are my varsity basketball coach, Clay Martin, and my personal basketball trainer Austin Wright. These two men have been influencing my decisions in life and the ability to play the game I love for the last four years. They both have great family’s and have a love for the game like I do.”

Wilkins is a senior at Jenks High School. He plays guard for the Trojans basketball team, a sport he first started playing when he was five years old. Seth is also very involved around the Jenks campus. He is a member of Young Life, the student council, Drug-Free Youth, the Native American Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Seth has put in a lot of work in order to be the best athlete that he can be. While the work has been important, he says that there are other things that go into being the best.
“In order to be successful in basketball, I have had to learn to be humble.,” he stated. “I know that the people around me, the ones who push me to be better, have been the key to my success.”

Martin says that Seth is an outstanding player and an asset to the Trojans.

“He does it all for our team,” the coach said. “All the little things that make us better that not everyone sees or reads about.”

Throughout his career, Wilkins has enjoyed some memorable moments. He says that he is looking forward to making an even bigger memory this season.

“I feel like the highlight of my career is yet to come,” Seth said. “I think the highlight of my career will be winning the state championship this year and being a part of the first class at Jenks to ever win a state championship in basketball.”
