The Kiefer High School basketball team is off to a great start under head coach John Coons. The Lady Trojans have wins over Class 4A teams in Berryhill, Bristow, and Perkins-Tryon. Kiefer is ranked No. 19 in Class 3A and one player looking to make the most of this season is Claire Hoover. Hoover has spent her entire life as a Trojan, and she’s played basketball every year with another lifetime Trojan.
“My favorite memory is playing basketball with one of my best friends since pre-k,” said Hoover. “What I love most about being a student-athlete at Kiefer HS is seeing my friends every day.”
The point guard/shooting guard said her teammates are the reason they all work hard to be successful on the court. They share in the success and support one another to be better in every practice and every game.
“What I love most about my teammates is how encouraging and supportive they are,” said Hoover.
Hoover will turn her attention to the golf course this spring when she represents Kiefer High School in competition on the golf team. Hoover is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she said her favorite subject is history and her favorite teacher is Mr. Rossman.
The combo guard said a member of her family has played a big role in her life.
“A big influence on my life is my dad because he pushes me to do my best in everything I do and shows me what hard work looks like,” said Hoover.
Hoover would like to attend college after graduation and is leaning towards a degree in sports medicine. In her free time, Hoover said she enjoys shopping and hanging out with her friends.
