LIBERTY TIGERS

3-7
OFFENSE
The Liberty Tigers have had a long drought of not making it to the postseason. But fourth-year head coach Shane Page feels that his team is ready to play past the regular season. “We want to build on our 3-7 record,” he said. “We will lean heavily on our crew of veteran wide receivers to lead our spread attack. We want to keep things simple on defense and work to be more aggressive with the athletes that we have on our roster. We will keep making a push for a post-season appearance as that is something that has not happened at Liberty since the late 1990s.” The wide receivers are the strength of the Tiger’s offense, led by Brandon Aguayo (5-10, 175, Sr.), who had 700-plus all-purpose yards last season. Another player to keep an eye on is Jason Burr (6-2, 175, Sr.). He had 400 receiving yards but only played half of a season last year. After ending last season with 400-plus receiving yards, Chunk Bilby (5-8, 165, Jr.) is ready to make a bigger impact this season. With these three receivers, the Tigers also bring two others that did not play last season but are expected to play big roles this season. Xander Gillespie (5-10, 165, Sr.) missed last season due to an injury, while Dakota Wilson (5-10, 160, Sr.) transferred in from Bartlesville.
DEFENSE
The Tiger’s defense is working at being more aggressive and taking of the athletes that they have on defense to slow team downs. One key player for the defense is Outside linebacker Bilby, who had fifteen tackles for loss last year and ended the season with the third-most tackles on the team. Mason Sinnett (6-1, 185, Sr.) will be at middle linebacker. On the defensive line, there will be four starters back. Nose guard Owen Howell (6-1, 310, Sr.) and defensive ends Charles McAlister (5-10, 188, Sr.), German Cervantes (5-10, 198, Sr.), and Barrett Brown (6-3, 186, Jr.) will work to cause the offense problems and disrupt their flow. Assistant coaches are Nate Green, Marke Baze, Dutch Gillespie, Steve Dalton, Tim Brown, and Dusty Bratzler.
