Mounds Softball’s Anna Green – Presented By Tulsa Bone and Joint

By Derrick Smith

High school athletics is more than just student-athletes playing a sport. They also learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and how to achieve goals. Anna Green loves playing softball and knows what it has taken to become the player she is today.

“I have put in a lot of hard work to become a better softball player,” she said. “It has also required a lot of dedication. There are things that I have to miss because I have to work on my game and work hard to get better. Another important thing is just having fun. That makes it more enjoyable.”

Green is a senior at Mounds High School, where she is a multi-sport athlete. She plays shortstop and third base for the Lady Golden Eagles softball team, a sport that she has played for about fourteen years. She is also a member of the basketball and cheer teams.

Throughout her life, Anna has had different people influence her as both an athlete and a person. But, she says, there are a few people that have made the biggest impact on her.
“My parents have been the biggest role models in my life,” she said. “They have always been there for me and helped me achieve my dreams. Two other people that have really helped me on the field have been coach Clay and coach Standley. They have impacted my life in many ways and have shown me that working hard will pay off.”

One of the top moments of Anna’s career was when all of her hard work paid off and she was recognized for it.

“I have made a lot of great memories playing softball over the years,” she said. “But the best memory I have is when I won the Bison Conference Offensive MVP during my sophomore year. It felt really great to earn that honor.”

Green says that there is a group of softball players that she looks up to and has for quite a while.
“I look up to all of the University of Oklahoma softball players,” she said. “Especially Sydney Romero. I love the way they play and the energy that they bring to the game.”
