Junior Sophie Bullock is a cheerleader at Glenpool High School, where she is a flyer and tumbler on the competitive squad. Bullock also cheers on Friday nights for the Glenpool football team. Bullock started cheerleading in kindergarten and has progressed mightily throughout her high school career, according to coach Melissa Reed.

“She came in as a freshman already really talented but has improved so much over the past few years,” Reed said. “In her junior season she has really stepped up vocally as a leader as well. She encourages others and always helps keep things positive.”

The Lady Warriors placed third at state during Bullocks freshman season while finishing as regional runner-up this season. And Bullock has showcased her skill not only on the high school team but on her competitive team, Twist & Shout Adam & Eve. She was the flyer world champion on her squad, won best jumper out of more than 400 athletes at the Extreme Cheer Camp, and her stunt group won Best Stunt Group at the same camp as well. She was also named a top 5 dancer finalist at the camp as well.

Entering her 12th season as a cheer coach, Reed has seen a lot of talent such as the likes of Bullock, but she is just as impressed with her competitive drive in practice.

“She’s got crazy good jumps, and she’s a super talented flyer,” Reed said. “She goes 100% every practice. Sophie leads by example, learns material quickly, and always performs in practice and in front of a crowd.”

Outside of school and cheer, Bullock is a hostess at Bricktown Brewery and takes classes at Tulsa Technology Center. Upon graduation, Bullock plans to attend college to pursue a degree in sports medicine and physical therapy. Bullock credits her cheer coaches throughout her decade-plus cheer career for not only her success with the sport but outside of cheer as well.
