Q&A with Coweta’s Dasia Mason – Presented by Goodfella’s Pizzeria

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
Dasia: Definitely want to take my team back to the state championship for another opportunity to reclaim the title.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Dasia: I pretty much treat everything like a competition because I believe it helps me grind to be the best at everything I do and never give up. Softball has also taught me how to listen and be open to constructive criticism and to be a good teammate and support others when they are doing great and also when they’re facing challenges.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Dasia: My 11th grade English teacher Christy Williams. She was very helpful with all of the essays and papers we wrote.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Dasia: I like to see the underdogs win. People get knocked down all the time but anyone that pushes through adversity and overcomes obstacles is inspiring and makes me want to work harder.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Dasia: My Freshman year I got to play with my oldest sister, and that year we won the state championship together which is something that most never get to experience. But as a pitcher, I have to show much love for all the catchers out there (my sister Natalia Mason, Sierra Soto – Coweta Lady Tigers and Saylor Brown – Haskell Lady Haymakers) Love yall!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Dasia: I’ve met a lot of different people and have built relationships with my teammates that I will remember for life.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
Dasia: My whole family is athletic and we all play multiple sports but of course I’d have to say I’m the best athlete because it takes a certain mindset to be in the circle and not let the pressure get to you.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Dasia: Football – I’d want to be the quarterback or the kicker.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
Dasia: My playlist has a little bit of everything in it rock, country, hip-hop, you name it. Music gets me going so I’ve always got something playing.
