Rylie Littlejohn was named Bixby girls’ basketball head coach on April 24.
Littlejohn replaces Tina Thomas, who stepped away after eight seasons. Thomas led the Lady Spartans to two state runner-up finishes.
Littlejohn, formerly Rylie Torrey, was the head coach at Preston for three years. She led Preston to a 24-6 overall record and an appearance in the Class 2A State Tournament this past season.
Torrey was a standout player at Locust Grove under head coach Justin Brown. The Lady Pirates won a Class 4A state championship in 2015, Torrey’s senior year. Her father, Dusty Torrey, was the Locust Grove boys’ head coach during that time.
During her collegiate career, Torrey played at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid, Northeastern State, and wrapped up her playing career at Oral Roberts where she averaged 11.5 points and shot 43.5 percent from 3-point territory in her final season.
Bixby went 19-9 overall in 2022-23 under Thomas and advanced to the Class 6A State Tournament. The Lady Spartans had four players – Gracy Wernli, Gentry Baldwin, Alyssa Nielson and Meredith Mayes – earn all-state honors in Thomas’ final season.
