Sand Springs’ Ashley Shope – Mom Spotlight – Presented by Spoon Drug
Ashley Shope, the mother of Colin and Brooklyn Shope, has served as Sandite Basketball Association President for the past three years and manages concession duties for the Sandite Volleyball Booster Club.

Colin is a senior on the Sand Springs’ basketball team, while Brookly plays volleyball for the Sandites.

“As a parent, I think it’s important to be involved in my children’s activities not only as a spectator but as someone that takes the time to support the coaches, players and team to help them have the best season possible,” Ashley said. “Many of the public schools do not have the resources or staff to organize all the extraneous duties, so I’m happy to spend time in that arena and show my children that helping in this capacity can be very rewarding.

“I enjoy feeling like I’ve taken a burden away from someone else with less time or resources and it’s gratifying to experience the happiness other people have when on the receiving end.”

Ashley and Brooklyn have also delivered dog and cat food for PAWS (Pets Assisting
Wellness in Seniors) on a monthly basis for the past five years. It’s a program sponsored by Meals on Wheels.

As a family, the Shopes enjoy traveling and gathering with large groups of friends.
