Sand Springs’ Mason Ward – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By – Tour Quality Golf

Athletes in all sports have a certain level of work that is required to continually improve their skills and to get better. Along with all the work, there is also a level of personal responsibility that is required.

“It takes a lot of grit and determination to be at your best,” said Mason Ward. “It also takes self discipline to be successful in golf.”

Ward is a senior at Charles Page High School, where he is a member of the golf team. He is also involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Along with all the time and effort that he has invested, Mason also has some people in his life that have helped shape him into the person that he is.

“Some of my biggest influences and role models are my family and the Lord Jesus Christ,” Mason said. “Another person that has played a role in my life is one of my teachers, Ms. Sprague. She has had the most impact on my life because she pushes me to try my hardest in everything I do.”

With all the work that he has put in, Mason has also seen the fruits of his labor. He says that the highlight moment of his career, so far, has been making it to the state golf tournament as an individual.

Throughout his career, Ward has competed with and alongside some solid golfers. He said that those relationships he has built go past the golf course.

“One opponent I have enjoyed playing against is Parker Friedrichsen,” he said. “He’s been a buddy of mine for a while and it was always fun to talk crap to him before tournaments. A teammate I enjoy working against in practice is Zane Downey because we are similar in skill level and he always pushes me to be better. And I think the least appreciated teammate is Dawsen Briscoe because he can fire a low number sometimes and he’s always positive at practice.”
