Miriam Wilbanks
Charles Page High School
Everyone has a story. Miriam Wilbanks, a senior at Charles Page High School in Sand
Springs, started her journey as a band member in the sixth grade. Now a senior, Wilbanks is
a member of the drumline, playing center snare for the Gold Pride Band.
“I love the reward of working hard on a show and that work paying off,” said Wilbanks.
Being in the band is just one of the activities Wilbanks is involved in to fill up her schedule.
Wilbanks serves as president of the Charles Page chapter of National Honor Society, and
she serves as secretary for the HOSA chapter.
In the classroom, Wilbanks said she’s a big fan of science.
“My favorite subject has always been science! I love learning about the human body and the
environment surrounding it. This love for science was majorly foster by my freshman
biology and PLTW bio-med teacher, Matthew Watkins,” said Wilbanks. “I plan on going to
college out of state to pursue a degree in biology, on track to becoming a doctor.”
Wilbanks said her mother has been a big influence in her life.
“My mom has been one of the greatest influences in my life. She always encourages me to
do what’s right, and fosters my love for learning,” said Wilbanks.
In her free time, the senior said she enjoys reading and discovering new music when time
allows.
